It has been quite some time since Rural Media South Australia hosted a forum featuring the person driving our State's agricultural and primary industries agenda. With a State election on the horizon and nearly twelve months into Paul Caica's term as Minister for Agriculture, Food and Fisheries, it is opportune for RMSA to once again focus on the fortunes of the primary industries sector.

By the nature of his portfolio, Minister for Agriculture Food and Fisheries, Hon Paul Caica MP holds enormous personal responsibility to shepherd the economic development of South Australia's primary industries sector through turbulent times in the world arena. His other portfolios of Minister for Industrial Relations, Minister for Forests and Minister for Regional Development place him in an ideal position to influence the welfare of both the rural and regional sectors.

Paul Caica was elected to the South Australian Parliament in 2002 as Member for the western suburbs electorate of Colton. Following the 2006 election, he was appointed to Cabinet and Executive Council. In March 2009 a Cabinet reshuffle saw him take on his current portfolio responsibilities.

He previously served as Minister for Employment, Training and Further Education, Minister for Science and Information Economy, Minister for Youth, Minister for Gambling and Minister for Volunteers.

During Paul Caica's time in Parliament, the rural sector has experienced droughts, significant rural industry restructuring and water access issues. Guests at the February 17 Rural Media South Australia luncheon will be presented with a report card on how our primary industries sector is faring. Book your place early.
